Newlyweds Caroline and Aaron Campbell booked a 7-night all-inclusive stay at the popular Sharm el Sheikh resort for late August 2014, hoping to relax and enjoy the start of their married life together. Unfortunately, upon arrival at the Siva Sharm Resort and Spa, it soon became clear to Caroline that a number of guests were suffering in an alleged illness outbreak at the hotel.

After speaking the specialist solicitors at HolidayIllnessClaims, the Campbell family were able to bring a successful claim for compensation against their tour operator on a no win no fee basis.

What happened at the Siva Sharm Resort and Spa?

Speaking to Holiday Illness Claims, teacher Caroline expresses her concerns regarding hygiene standards at the 542 room complex and recalls being served cold and lukewarm food that was both uncovered and appeared recycled.

I tried the fish once but couldnt eat it as it just didnt seem to have the right texture to it, she comments.

Caroline also states that she would frequently have to ask for clean cutlery and describes the table lines as often dirty.

On the second day of her much-anticipated honeymoon, Caroline was struck by crippling stomach cramps, diarrhoea and nausea that persisted for the remainder of her stay.

It was by far the worst holiday Ive ever had, she states.

I cried, on more than one occasion, whilst we were away because I just wanted to go home. I completely regret booking the holiday â?¦ I feel like we paid out all that money on something that was supposed to be our chance to make memories to last a lifetime but the majority of memories I came back with are bad ones.

Carolines plight was made all the more precarious as she was in the early stages of pregnancy.

At the close of her ruined honeymoon, the stricken newlywed returned home exhausted and still suffering from repeat illness symptoms. After contacting her GP, hospital tests revealed that an infection was present.

Unfortunately, this knowledge brought little comfort to Caroline as she remained plagued by illness until early September and was unable to return to her job as a teacher for a number of days.

£2,545 successful settlement

With her honeymoon ruined by illness, Caroline turned to Holiday Illness Claims for legal advice and successfully pursued a no win no fee claim for holiday illness in Egypt.

Head of travel law, Anne Thomson, negotiated a £2,545 settlement for the Cheshire bride.

Anne commented: I am so glad I was able to assist Caroline after her honeymoon proved memorable for all the wrong reasons.
