Holidaymaker suffers gastroenteritis at the Thomas Cook Baron Resort

Sarah Kay and her partner flew out to the Baron Resort in August 2012 looking forward to relaxing in the hotels luxury five-star surroundings.

However, Miss Kay had little chance to enjoy any of the luxury facilities on offer as she was struck by gastroenteritis due to appalling hygiene standards at the Thomas Cook promoted hotel.

Stricken Miss Kay recalls with horror witnessing birds roaming and feeding freely from the restaurant foods and believes that dirty cutlery was the direct source of her gastroenteritis infection.

Speaking to industry experts HolidayIllnessClaims, Miss Kay recollected:

I felt violently sick and was left unable to eat for 2 days after a romantic meal at the resorts a la carte Indian restaurant.

I was given an IV drip and antibiotics but I was so dehydrated, the medicine made me worse.

The hotels doctor diagnosed me with gastroenteritis and I was given more injections and antibiotics for 4 days.

Miss Kays holiday nightmare left her extremely weak and tired and she claims that she had no appetite for a number of weeks after returning home.

Alarmingly, Miss Kay also claims to have acquired a sensitivity to Indian food following her holiday illness. I am now highly sensitive to Indian food and have had similar symptoms on two occasions when eating spicy foods, she stated.

Miss Kay decided to take legal action and appointed industry leaders Holiday Illness Claims to represent her case on a no win, no fee basis. Experienced solicitor Tracy Stansfield secured £2,600 in compensation for the stricken Baron resort guest.
