Outbreaks of sickenss plague the Royal Albratross Moderna

Our client and his wife stayed at Thomas Cooks Royal Albatross Moderna resort in June 2013 and looked forward to 9 nights of all inclusive luxury to celebrate their seventh wedding anniversary.

The Warwickshire couple were no stranger to the luxury resorts of Sharm El Sheikh however soon after their arrival they noted that hygiene standards were much poorer than their previous stays.

It soon became clear to our client that food served at the resorts all-inclusive buffet included leftover food items which were recycled for the next days service.

Things took a further turn for the worst on day 5 of the couples stay when our client began suffering symptoms of severe gastroenteritis, including crippling abdominal cramps and sickness.

Within hours of his initial symptoms, our client found himself bedridden and confined to his room with profuse diarrhoea, a condition which continued to plague our clients long term health.

A course of antibiotics provided by the on-site pharmacy provided our client with a little short term respite however it was not to last and his most severe gastric symptoms were to follow on as he returned home.

In the days following the couples ill-fated stay, our client endured almost 200 bouts of diarrhoea and reported to experts at Holiday Illness Claims that his recovery still remains slow.

With the help of Anne Thomson, Head of Travel Law at Holiday Illness Claims, our client from Warwickshire has now secured £7,500 in holiday illness compensation from Thomas Cook.

Comments on the case from our Head of Travel Law

Falling ill whilst on holiday is never a pleasant experience. However, to ruin a couples treasured wedding anniversary and impact an individuals long term health is simply unacceptable.

Myself and the team are therefore very pleased to have helped our client recover compensation and help bring a close to what has been a distressing ordeal for both our client and his wife.

Our client added:
