Holidaymaker struck by bacterial infection on board Thomson Dream ship secures £2,400 in compensation
Thanks to the HIC cruise ship claims specialists, a holidaymaker has received thousands in a successful no win no fee claim.
HIC client Mrs Hipkiss, fell ill with illness symptoms including sickness, diarrhoea and vomiting days into week long Mediterranean cruise on board the Thomson Dream in August 2015.
Taken by wheelchair to the ship’s medical bay, Mrs Hipkiss was given a breath test where she tested positive for helicobacter pylori, a bacterium.
Despite being placed onto a course of medicines to eradicate the infection, Mrs Hipkiss was to remain unwell for the rest of her cruise ship holiday, spending much of her time confined to her cabin.
Once back on UK land, the stricken passenger contacted her own GP as she continued to experience repeat illness symptoms and prescribed yet further treatment.
Mrs Hipkiss firmly believes that her cruise ship illness was the result of breakdowns in hygiene practices on board the Thomson Dream. Speaking to the HIC travel law specialists, Mrs Hipkiss draws particular attention to food handling practices, commenting that hot food was frequently served at lukewarm temperatures.
