E. coli contracted after hundreds fall sick at the Sentido Perissia Hotel in Turkey

A British holidaymaker has recently reported contracting E. coli at the Sentido Perissia Hotel in Turkey.

Hundreds of holidaymakers are believed to have fallen ill in August after a mass outbreak of sickness swept through the hotel.

A father who had fallen ill during a family holiday at the Sentido Perissia Hotel, was taken to a doctor for tests on his return home. It was confirmed that he had contracted E. coli during his stay.

The gentleman reported that he is continuing to experience significant symptoms almost two weeks after the holiday.

The tour operator Thomas Cook has confirmed that the Sentido Perissia Hotel has been affected by an outbreak of norovirus, with 144 hotel guests contracting illness.

Anne Thomson, head of our holiday illness claims team, commented: It is always concerning to read reports of holidays being ruined by illness.

E. coli and norovirus can lead to serious illness which can not only ruin a holiday but also lead to incurring out of pocket medical expenses. Holidaymakers may continue to experience symptoms such as stomach problems, nausea, and diarrhoea long after their return home as a result of the illness.

I sincerely hope that the tour operators will investigate the current reports of illness in order to prevent any further spread of infection at the Sentido Perissia Hotel.

I would also urge anyone who has fallen ill at this hotel to contact myself or a member of our holiday claims team, for expert advice on whether you may be entitled to make a claim for compensation.
