British mum launches claim against First Choice after illness strikes at Iberotel Coraya Beach Resort

A mum-of-two from Cleveland, UK, has launched a claim to seek compensation from her tour operator First Choice after what was supposed to be a dream holiday was ruined by a case of gastric illness.

Lisa Walker, 35, ventured out to Egypt with a close friend for a relaxing 7 day stay at the four-star Iberotel Coraya Beach Resort.

However her time to unwind was brief, as she started to suffer from gastric illness symptoms and her holiday began to turn into a nightmare that she wouldnt wish on anyone.

Lisa is convinced that the illness she had to endure was caused because of poor hotel standards, as she revealed cutlery and crockery in the dining area was dirty, and food was left out and uncovered in the hotel restaurant.

Unfortunately Lisas misery continued as she returned home, when she was notified by her doctor that she would have to take 3 weeks of her job as a train manager while she recovered from her case of gastric illness.

Lisa claims that she was not alone in the resort with regards to suffering from an illness, and reports from website TripAdvisor appear to back up her statement.

One holidaymaker posted on the website that food was always served lukewarm, and that they would not return to the Egyptian hotel unless certain aspects of the hotel were improved, for example food quality and preparation.

In addition to this, another former guest of the Iberotel Coraya Beach resort raises concerns over the hotels poor hygiene practices within the restaurant.

She complained: My big concern is the lack of hand hygiene in the restaurants by guestsâ?¦I think this should be more heavily enforced by staff, my partner had diarrhoea on the third day and I had it in the second week and I have never been ill in Egypt before.

Another displeased guest also commented, and believed the hotel gave him and his partner BAD diarrhoea.

This holidaymaker went on to disclose that the illness he had to endure at the Iberotel Coraya Beach Resort was the worst Ive ever had in 40 years of travelling, and that it took him a whole week of not eating much at all before I got back to normal.
