The dismayed former visitor of the Mexican complex revealed to us that their holiday was more or less completely ruined, after they contracted an illness during their stay which lasted for around one week.

Additionally, reviews made online by recent guests of the Hotel Riu Vallarta on TripAdvisor suggest that more holidaymakers have been left frustrated with the standards of the Mexican hotel.

Commenting upon the hygiene of the hotels main buffet and poolside restaurant, one holidaymaker commented:

They constantly fly around you and can pinch food off the plate especially if you leave your plate unattended. The other thing is the cleanliness due to this nearly all the chairs had bird poo on them

Also cutlery was placed on napkins on the table which inside wasn’t a problem but as birds were standing on tables I didn’t feel this was hygienic and preferred to get my own when getting my food.

Furthermore, another recent guest of the Hotel Riu Vallarta was also critical of the resorts hygiene standards, as they revealed:

The outside areas need to be cleaned more, especially the bird droppings on the outside chairs near the buffet. Also on the seats inside the Flamingo snack bar and restaurant.
