Guests report terrible holiday at Sol Cayo Guillermo
We are reading reports on TripAdvisor of holidaymakers reporting sickness and criticising hygiene standards at the Sol Cayo Guillermo in Cuba.
Thomas Cook features Sol Cayo Guillermo as a low-rise complex set directly on the beach. The all-inclusive hotel offers a main buffet restaurant and International Ã¡ la carte as well as four bars including beach, Cuban, snack and disco bar.
Having just returned from Sol Cayo Guillermo, I would just like to say, what a place says one holiday maker. I have been to Cayo Guillermo twice before and had a wonderful time but this place is the pits she continued. I would class this as a one star hotel.
One guest observed pot holes around the pool area, high sharp edged steps, cracked floor tiles, low water level in childrens pool, and maintenance ongoing surrounding the pool area where people and children walked barefoot. I am stressed memorising it, be warned he concluded.
Another holiday maker reported food poisoning at the hotel. On the third day of our holiday, my husband and nephew got food poisoning but the doctor advised us it was indigestion. I later became ill and was confined to my room for three days.
When asked for toilet roll, reception advised us to ring when we ran out and they will replace but it look five calls and a search for the hotel cleaner to receive any even the hotel toilets didnt have toilet paper she claimed.
We stayed at Sol Cayo Guillermo for two weeks but I wanted to leave after two days said one guest.
