British family holiday plagued by illness at the ClubHotel Riu Merengue

The team here at HolidayIllnessClaims are currently looking into reports of illness at the five-star Dominican ClubHotel Riu Merengue resort.

This comes following the news which has recently appeared, which reveals that a British family who travelled to the resort in February 2017 had their break marred by an unpleasant wave of gastric illness.

The Race family travelled to the resort full of excitement but before long all 4 of them were battling symptoms of diarrhoea, vomiting, shakes and a fever.

Commenting on the ordeal, Mr Race took issue with the hotels poor food hygiene practices before branding the hotel pool as very dirty.

Worryingly, in more recent reports it appears that additional holidaymakers who have visited the ClubHotel Riu Merengue are also not impressed with the resorts standards.

Posting on TripAdvisor, one former guest of the Dominican hotel who stayed in April 2017 revealed:

I was wondering why the bugs and flies were all over the pool chairs and after day 3 [I] realised that they are never cleaned.

People spilling drinks on them chips etc. was still there tables spilt all over and nothing cleaned not once in 14 days we were there was it cleaned which is disgusting and guessing [thats] why over 5 children we saw had [hand], foot and mouth [disease] all over them”.

It is concerning to learn that a number of holidaymakers who have travelled to the ClubHotel Riu Merengue have reported to have had their visits ruined by illness.

Following the claims, I should hope that the hotel management and tour operator take action and investigate to nullify the situation.
