The buffet was disgustingly dirty: Holidaymakers relive their ruined stays at Hotel Ocean Vista Azul
- Numerous holidaymakers complain of illness issues at the Cuban resort
- Some claim to have fallen severely ill following receiving medical attention during their stay
- Concerns raised over the hygiene of the hotel food and restaurants
The travel law team at HIC are currently in the process of probing claims made by multiple former guests of the Hotel Ocean Vista Azul, as many allege to have succumbed to illness during their stay at the Caribbean hotel.
Our team have recently discovered reports on the website TripAdvisor, which support the claims that there are hygiene and illness issues present at the resort.
One holidaymaker who travelled with her friends in April 2017, stated:
I became severely ill on the second night of our stay with the worst case of food poisoning I have ever experienced. (Upon confirmation from medical testing back home in Canada, a very bad strain of Salmonella).
I had only consumed food and beverages from the buffet/snack bar, and Italian restaurant on the resort. The doctor on site is only available limited hours each day. I ended up having to take a taxi at night to seek medical attention in downtown Varadero at the International Medical Clinic (Intravenous fluids, antibiotics, etc. cost me about 300CUC).
On top of this, another recent guest of the resort also claims to have fallen victim to an illness outbreak at the resort, as they claimed:
My 6 year old son got sick right away, I took him to the doctor at the resort who was wonderful with him, he felt better for a day then got sick again, then I got sick then another member of my group and then a 4th. My son refused to eat in the buffet, he survived on french fries and we got taxis and went into town for dinners.
Sad that the food made us all sick and even worse management doesn’t care about the customer experience and doesn’t respect their guests. I will never recommend this resort to anyone and will never return to this place.
