Gastric illness reported at Barcel Arenas Blancas, Varadero

Guests who have stayed at the Barcel Arenas Blancas in Varadero, Cuba have complained on TripAdvisor after falling ill with gastric illness.

The Barcel Arenas Blancas, formerly the Barcel Solymar, is promoted by Thomas Cook Holidays amongst others. The hotel is a 3 star all-inclusive and enjoys a beachfront location. The property offers two buffet restaurants and six à la carte restaurants, which include Seafood, Spanish, Mexican, Italian, Cuban, and Grill.

One guest, who attended the hotel as part of a wedding party, complained about the hotel. She said we were a party of over 50 attending a wedding. The hotel is run down and seriously needs a complete over haul.

The food has also been criticised, one guest said the food was terrible.

A couple said this was our 7th trip to Cuba, I was appalled!

My husband was sick for 3 days and other members of our party were also ill.
