It has come to the attention of the HIC experts that a number of recent Secrets Silversands Riviera Cancun visitors have unfortunately had their getaways plagued by sickness.
This comes after our travel law team discovered numerous reports on the website TripAdvisor, which suggest that illness has recently been rife at the Virgin Holidays promoted hotel.
In one of these reports, a distressed holidaymaker revealed how the illness issues at the resort ruined their anniversary trip, as they posted:
We learned that several individuals from the resort were getting sick from food poisoning.
“The staff would not tell us what was going on and told our friends that they were just drunk. When in fact they had 4 drinks all day…uh no.
Another lady had her husband so sick that the hotel doctor told them that they had digestive issues and charged $700â?¦ [Then] they were rushed to the hospital and spent 5 days there. That ruined their vacation.
My biggest issue was that there was food poisoning going around and we were terrified to eat. We did not want to ruin our annual vacation for our anniversary. We even took a taxi to Puerto Morelos just to get food in us so that we were not starving for dinner.
In addition to this, other former Secrets Silversands Riviera Cancun guests have also taken to TripAdvisor to voice their concerns over the resorts sickness problems. Another November 2017 visitor of the hotel commented:
My daughter and I vacationed at SSS (Secrets Silversands Riviera Cancun) for 6 days during the middle of November.
This was a first trip to Mexico for her and she absolutely loved it. Me, on the other hand have travelled to Mexico many times and have lots to compare it to.
On our last day my daughter woke up vomiting and was in and out of the bathroom all morning with a sick stomach. Awful timing on a travel day.
I felt so sorry for her feeling so sick. She could not even keep water down. And when she went out on the balcony the stench made her feel worse.
